African Medical Mission has been recognized over the years for the work that has been accomplished. Former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Nelson Mandela have both formally recognized the work of AMM.

Dr. Chris McConnachie was awarded with the 2002 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons International Humanitarian Award.

Jenny McConnachie was honored in 2006 with the Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans Award.

Chris and Jenny McConnachie were recipients of the “Order of the British Empire, 2006″, as Officers of the Order.

Chris and Jenny McConnachie were recipients of the 2007 Health Excellence Award from the provincial Department of Health.

Chris and Jenny McConnachie were awarded the 2007 Distinguished Communicant Award. The award is the highest honor given to the lay person from the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina who has demonstrated unusual leadership and who has made a unique witness to the Gospel.
